pop-music politics and a temporary community

In a beautiful curation by Ntizeza, finding some support in the Creative Moves fund, I traveled to Belgrade and to Užice and spent some days in the company of beautiful souls in my new country crush, Serbia.

On the night of our arrival we had an event in the basement of Guvernanta. I did some political music gossip, and we played popular and pop songs that are shared across the Balkans. It was super fun, of which we have close to no documentation. Here is a low-res photo of me and Jovana the Great during a discussion of Goran Bregovic, presumably. Photo credit, unknown.

The next day we moved to Užice for a week’s residency at Four Waters. It was a wonderful time. Looking back at it from my base in Athens, I see that it has worked like therapy. Still digesting, might write more about this later.

Closing this post with blessings to our hosts, and a photo of me trying to make sense of an impromptu tarot card with Nata by my side. Photo credit Miloš Bojović.

Sanem’s Historical Revelations S1E3

The third episode of Sanem’s Historical Revelations was aired on the 28th of February 2024, a day of general strike in Athens, from the Ntizeza space. Can we still dream of a good life for humans? Can we imagine a good society? Obviously we find it difficult – but why?

on radio

On 23.01.2024 I was the guest of the daily radio show Ραδιοκοινότητες presented by Rafeq Abdeen on one of the nation-wide radio channels of Greece, Στο Κόκκινο 105.5 . The subject was the Magic Kitchen of Exarcheia, my experience of being a migrant entrepreneur, our beloved neighborhood of Exarcheia, cultural differences, and neoliberalism. To listen to the broadcast (in Greek) follow the link.
